Turkey/Beef Burgers

1 lb ground beef
1 lb ground turkey
1/4 cup of salsa
1 clove garlic chopped
1/2 small onion grated (using cheese grater)

Mix all the ingredients together and form into patties. We made 7 LARGE
burgers. Grill until done.

We have played around with many different burger recipes, but we always seem
to resort back to this faithful recipe (minus the turkey). We usually do all
beef burgers, but since turkey was/is such a good price, we tried substituting.
We were very impressed! Next time we grill burgers, we are going to try to do
100% turkey burgers, but use the same ingredients. The burgers didn't shrink
much since the turkey has very little fat.

I believe it was Rachel Ray who showed me (on TV) how to prevent your
burgers from turning into hockey pucks. She said to make a thumb print (push
meat down) in the middle of the burger. It seems to help when we do all beef
burgers, but it doesn't always keep them from getting small and fat!

We also lightly coat the outside of our burgers with Kosher Salt and Ground
Pepper. Enjoy!
